Orissa eyes $1bn IT exports by 2012

STG Chips Pvt Ltd., the first Semiconductor Technology Innovation Center in Bhubaneswar, which will be first of its kind in India. Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the center on Aug 31st 2007. The center will employ over 1600 employees over next 5 years.

STG intends to open Silicon Park, a semiconductor (chip) Technology Innovation Center in Bhubaneswar, India, with an objective to engage in Chip design, System and embedded software development for markets including consumer, IT, Telecommunications and emerging technologies, leveraging the manpower graduating from the engineering colleges of Orissa and Eastern India. This technology innovation center will be a business incubator dedicated to supporting growth and development of early stage technology based businesses focused on building products for serving its Indian and Global semiconductor market. It will provide an entrepreneurial business environment and a complete semiconductor product eco system. STG is bringing the Silicon Valley’s successful business model, know-how and expertise to India. This will be a one of a kind setup in India to incubate, design, develop and manufacture semiconductor products for the Indian and the Global markets.

STG could be model to other Indian entities in the field of semiconductor products. STG aimed to bridge the gap between innovation vision and the market.
